Tolgee provides translation management and i18n for your plugin. The Unoff template uses a dual i18n system: Tolgee for the UI context, and a custom createI18n for the Canvas context.

Quick Setup

To enable Tolgee in your project, you only need two things:

  1. Set isTolgeeEnabled: true in global.config.ts
  2. Add these two variables to your .env.local file:
VITE_TOLGEE_API_KEY=your-tolgee-api-key
VITE_TOLGEE_URL=https://app.tolgee.io

Step 1 — Create a Tolgee project (optional)

Creating a Tolgee project is not required to use localization. The Tolgee SDK and local JSON translation files work out of the box — both in development and in production. You only need a Tolgee project if you want over-the-air translation updates, in-context editing, or collaborative translation management.

If you just want to ship with local JSON files, skip this step and go directly to Step 2.

  1. Go to tolgee.io and create an account (or log in)
  2. Click Add Project from the dashboard
  3. Give it a name (e.g. "My Figma Plugin")
  4. Add your languages — select the base language (e.g. English) and add the languages you want to support (e.g. French, Spanish, German). You can add more later
  5. Once created, go to Project Settings → API Keys
  6. Click Create API Key:
  7. Copy the generated API Key and note your API URL (usually https://app.tolgee.io for the cloud version)
  8. Paste both into your .env.local file (see above)

Import existing translations (optional)
